'Atlas Shrugged' author sees resurgence

According to this article on CNN:

Rand book sales are "going through the roof," said Yaron Brook, the president of the Ayn Rand Institute. According to Brook, "Atlas Shrugged," her most famous novel, has sold more copies in the first four months of 2009 than it did for all of 2008 -- and in 2008, it sold 200,000 copies. It's been in Amazon.com's top 50 for more than a month.

Not bad for a 1,100-page doorstop of a book that came out in 1957, by an author who died in 1982.

"So many people see the parallels with actually what's going on, with the government taking over the banks, with the government kind of taking over the automobile industry, a president who fires the CEO of a major American corporation. These are the kind of things that come out of 'Atlas Shrugged,' " Brook said.

Don't make me put my mind on strike!

I'm working on my fifth concerto...

Now, when is that movie coming out and how poorly adapted will it be?

Philips Carousel Commercial

Here's a short film created to advertise Philips' upcoming new 21:9 LCD TV (widescreen TVs are generally 16:9). Maybe I'll get one someday. Anyway, watch the film... the camera is the only thing that moves...

Fir tree found in lung

Doctors found a fir tree in a patient's lung...

Doctors first became suspicious when they noticed the patient's breath always smelled good and "Christmassy."

Universe Sandbox

I haven't tried it out yet, but this galactic physics simulator looks pretty cool! According to the site, you can:

Smash moons into planets, create new stars, and build new worlds from spinning discs of debris. Explore our solar system in 3D or destroy everything you've created with a super massive black hole.

Tinker with your creation or sit back and watch the effects of gravity unfold. It's fun, accessible, and easy to use.

I feel so... GODLY! Bwahahaha!

China hi-tech exam cheats jailed

Someone twittered this video... China scares me. :-(

In China, eight parents and teachers who used hi-tech equipment to help children cheat in college entrance exams have been sent to prison.

They were given sentences of six months to three years after being found guilty of obtaining state secrets.
